The Foundation for Human rights has awarded Sustainable Community Development a grant as part of their Growing Food For Life Program. This supports our pilot project in the local community of Mautse.
On Waaipoort Farm the prototypes for self constructed growing systems (greenhouse tunnel, wicking beds and ferro cement rainwater harvesting system) will be established in the first few months of 2024 and during the rest of the year three beneficiary families will be trained at Waaipoort Farm and a small weather and drought proof system established at their homes. The beneficiaries will be supported for at least three years in developing a successful vegetable growing enterprise, primarily to achieve food sovereignty and subsequently to provide additional income to the families. |
